The summer "smoke" display of the American Smoketree makes this small tree an absolute must-have for the home garden. Once done flowering, the bracts left behind create a billowing, misty radiance atop the shrub that only grows more beautiful as time passes. But that is not the only thing this shrub has to offer. It is a wonderful foliage filler for floral arranging; once pruned in late winter the branches can be used for weaving wattles; and - the icing on the cake - the fall color is among the finest of any plant we grow.
