'Little Suzie' American Witch Hazel blooms in late autumn with fragrant, ribbon-like yellow flowers that persist after its leaves drop, offering extended color in the autumn landscape and late-season nectar for native pollinators. While the species can grow into a small tree, this cultivar is a dwarf variety, growing only 4–5 feet tall and wide, making it ideal for small gardens, shrub borders and hedges. Its dense branching results in a plethora of flowers, and it also blooms at a younger age than the straight species. Add in the butter-yellow color of its fall foliage, and you can see how ‘Little Suzie’ packs a lot of punch for its size!

Conditions: Sun to part shade; medium to moist soil; tolerant of clay soils

Size: 4'-5' ft tall, 4'-5' ft spread

Zone: 3 - 8

Wildlife Value: Flowers attract butterflies, moths, bees, wasps, hoverflies and beetles; larval host for the uncommon witch hazel dagger moth (Acronicta hamamelis)
