Gardeners with small spaces, rejoice! If you’ve been avoiding Obedient Plant because of its reputation for being not-so-obedient in the garden, we’ve got just the solution. 'Pink Manners' is a well-named and well-behaved selection of Obedient Plant that spreads more slowly than the straight species. This lovely and tidy perennial has a compact, upright form with sturdy four-sided stems that resist flopping and become enveloped in spires of light rose-pink to lavender-pink blooms in summertime. This variety has excellent branching and good repeat bloom if deadheaded, providing a long season of flowering from June to September. Pair it with the white-flowered Obedient Plant ‘Miss Manners’, another compact cultivar, for a lovely summer display.
