'Moonglow' is a delightful cultivar of Arrowwood that brings joy to any garden with its compact, rounded habit and extra-large, glossy, dark green foliage. This charming shrub dazzles in late May to early June with atypically domed, white flower clusters resembling full moons, living up to its celestial name. As summer wanes, 'Moonglow' bears larger-than-species dark blue fruits, offering a delectable buffet for our feathered friends. The visual feast continues into late August and September when leaves turn a striking combination of green, gold, and red-maroon tones. This cultivar is a true garden treasure, discovered in 1990 by Bill Barnes at Moon Nursery in Pennsylvania, selected for its petite stature and prolific blooming – perfect for gardens where space is at a premium. 'Moonglow' isn't just a pretty face; it's a pollinator paradise, attracting bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects, while providing food and shelter for various wildlife species.
