This pyramidal stunner is a staple in the North American landscape. The foliage of Bald Cypress consists of delicate, feathery needles that are arranged in flat sprays along the branches. The leaves are bright green in spring and summer, turning russet-brown in autumn before dropping in the fall. At home in wetlands and swampy, water-logged soils, this plant will happily grow in average soil and can also hold the soil on the edge of a streambank at maturity – just watch out for its knobby “knees” if mowing nearby!

Conditions: Full sun to part shade; moist to wet soil

Size: 50’ - 70’ tall, 20’ - 30’ wide
