A classic American perennial found throughout the eastern United States from New York to Georgia, this mounding ground cover boasts evergreen foliage and showy, late-summer blooms. In a cultivated landscape, this plant can serve many purposes: ground cover in a woodland garden, borders along a walkway, planted in a container or in a pollinator garden, or just a touch of broad-leaved but soft texture for shaded areas.
