Among our native ferns, Hay-scented Fern may be the hardiest and most adaptable, spreading vigorously via rhizomes creating lush groundcover even in some of the toughest parts of your garden. The fine-textured foliage turns a brilliant yellow in the fall giving it visual interest far beyond the summer growing season. As an added bonus, the fronds release a fragrance similar to fresh mown hay when brushed against or crushed.
