Bottlebrush Buckeye is prized as one of the most attractive of all flowering shrubs for shade. Over time, this multi-stemmed shrub will slowly form a thicket, creating mounding green masses of distinct, palmate leaves. In summer, tall, white, bottlebrush-like flowers appear like giant fairy candles, attracting pollinators of all sorts, especially Eastern Tiger Swallowtail butterflies. The show continues into fall when the leaves turn pure gold, lighting the shady corners of the garden before the winter's chill sets in.
