The largest and most dramatic of the trillium tribe, as the name “grandiflorum” might suggest, this tall and showy trillium has white flowers 2-4” across. You could be on the right track if you're thinking that this trillium has strong “youngest child” vibes. The appearance of the individual blooms in April and May is a true phenomenon. “Pay attention to me!” they seem to say, as the green bracts and then the flower buds emerge from the shady soil they inhabit. As spring moves ever onward, the brilliant white blooms begin to blush, fading into pink hues before the plants disappear completely by June, to resume their show the following spring.

Conditions: Deep shade to part shade; moist soils; loamy, rich soil
Size: 1'-3’ tall, <1' spread
Zone: 4 - 8
Wildlife Value: Flowers attract bumblebees; seeds spread by ants
