This dwarf columbine cultivar is small but mighty, featuring bright, ferny foliage and striking red and yellow blooms that are more intensely colored than the straight species. Plant in a woodland garden for a pop of color in April and May. If happy, this plant will self-seed (but not aggressively) and grace your garden with a small colony of color in the shade. Can be grown in full sun if given adequate moisture.
Conditions: Part shade to full shade; moist, humus-rich soils with good drainage
Size: <1' tall
Zone: 3-8
Wildlife Value: Nectar source for hummingbirds on their northern migration; flowers attracts long-tongued insects, including hawk moths; primary host plant for the Columbine Duskywing Butterfly and Pink-patched Looper Moth
