At Stoneleigh, this cute, short shrub can be found along the Catalpa Court pathway. It creates a tidy groundcover with attractive leaves along the front edge, blooming sporadically throughout the summer and maintaining a nearly evergreen presence. In one of the garden spaces with the highest rabbit pressure, this plant remains untouched and adorable.
The plants on offer are of wild origin seeds – from dry mixed hardwood forest of our New Jersey preserves where sandy soils are pervasive. This is an uncommonly cultivated species that should be grown in more gardens.
