Blueberries are some of the most beneficial and wonderful plants out there. In spring, their small, white, bell-shaped flowers attract bees of all sorts, including a few pollen specialists. Their dark blue fruits mature in early summer, providing food for birds and humans alike, and in fall, the leaves turn a spectacular shiny red. 'Bluecrop' is a popular variety for home gardeners for good reason. It has consistently high yields and large delicious berries.

Conditions: Full sun to part shade; medium to wet, acidic soil
Size: 5'-6' tall
Zone: 6 - 8
Wildlife Value: Flowers support native bees, including pollen specialists (Andrena bradleyi, Andrena carolina); fruits edible for humans and birds; larval host for Brown Elfin Skipper
